Wee Leong graduated from the National University of Singapore with double major honours in Corporate Finance and Operations Management, and a minor Technology Management.
Wee Leong joined SPRING Singapore (Enterprise Singapore, ESG) under government scholarship. During his tenure in ESG he served as the first regional director based in San Francisco, covering 22 states of USA ,Head of Precision Engineering and Head of Advanced Manufacturing.
Wee Leong was responsible for making engineering exciting. He started the first Makerspace in Singapore, the first Robotic competition with ST Engineering, the first 3D printing SME consortium in Singapore and the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster (NAMIC).
In 2017, Wee Leong joined JTC to curate industries in Singapore’s biggest advanced manufacturing industrial estate - the Jurong Innovation District (JID). JID grew into ASEAN’s largest cluster of additive manufacturing companies and is now home to some of the world’s most advanced manufacturers.
Since 2020, Wee Leong started overseeing the Infocomm, Media and Startup Clusters with the goal of bridging cross sectors collaborations in the digital economy. Wee Leong also covers all of JTC Business Parks assets in one-north, Changi Business Park, International Business Park and upcoming Punggol Digital District.
