Dr Ong Chen Hui

Cluster Director, Technology Development
Infocomm Media Development Authority 

Dr Ong Chen Hui is the Cluster Director of Technology Development at the Infocomm and Media Development Authority (IMDA), where she oversees the agency’s RIE2025 efforts and industry development efforts in the areas of AI/Data, Communications/Connectivity and Trust Technologies.

Dr Ong has over 2 decades of experience in cybersecurity and technology innovation. Prior to IMDA, she was the APJ CTO in Trustwave – a Singtel company and Principal Member of Technical Staff in DSO National Laboratories.

In her role as APJ CTO in Trustwave, she drove the vision and oversee execution of emerging technologies in the cybersecurity business. Her portfolio covers building MVPs, consulting and vulnerability research in OT Cybersecurity, Big Data for Telco Cybersecurity, Automotive Cybersecurity and 5G cybersecurity. Within the Singtel Group, she was also a member of the task forces in group-wide strategic projects such as 5G CFP. She represented the company in the Telco Security Alliance and at the World Economic Forum. She was also a member of the committee for TR68: Technical Reference for Autonomous Vehicles and the Cybersecurity Working Group in the 2018 Services and Digital Economy Technology Roadmap. In her earlier role as Principal Member of Technical Staff in DSO National Laboratories, she performed applied research, malware analysis, risk and vulnerability assessments. Her research work on Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing and Deep Learning has been published in leading conferences.

Dr Ong has earned accreditations as a GIAC Certified Forensic Analyst (GCFA) and GIAC Reverse Engineering Malware (GREM) technologist. She holds a PhD in Computer Science under the Singapore-MIT Alliance. She also holds an MSc in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a BSc (Honours) in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley in the United States.
