Mr Khoong Hock Yun
Mr Khoong is a Senior Advisor at Tembusu Partners, developing new innovative companies and digital technology initiatives and solutions. He also a global expert trainer at The Academy for Smarter Communities (TASC).
He was the former Chief Digital Evangelist at the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore where he was responsible for development of Singapore's Infocomm Communications Technology Industry, developing and build Singapore’s national infocomm infrastructure (such as leading the design and development of Singapore's Nation-wide Broadband Network i.e Fibre to the home and businesses, Wireless@SG i.e free nationwide WiFi network, SGIX i.e. Singapore's neutral Internet Exchange, Singapore’s first Data Center Park), setting up IMDA’s Accreditation Initiative to enable promising local companies to gain access to larger business revenue opportunities, development of Infocomm manpower (such as the National Technology Skills Accelerator or TeSA initiative), sponsoring the development key infocomm technologies, infocomm companies, as well strategic users of infocomm technologies to generate economic growth for Singapore; all these to further Singapore’s ambition to be one of Asia’s most dynamic and vibrant infocomm hubs. Singapore’s Infocomm revenue grew from S$20B in 2000 to $70B in 2015.
He has more than 30 years of experience in both industry and government, and held various senior management positions in the technology sector.
Prior to IDA/IMDA, Mr Khoong managed a global business unit in Mentor Graphics
Corporation (USA), responsible for P&L and all aspects of the business, including sales and marketing, business development, product development, customer support and consulting. Mr Khoong also worked in Singapore’s Ministry of Defence as Programme Director, building simulators, and command, control and communications systems.
Mr Khoong is a member of the Engineering Accreditation Board (EAB) of Singapore, a Fellow of the Singapore Computer Society (SCS), a member of SCS’ Executive Committee.
A Harvard Business School alumnus, Mr Khoong has Masters degrees in both Engineering
and Business Administration.
