Established in 1976, Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN) is a social service agency providing special education for persons with mild intellectual disability (IQ 50-70). Today, APSN operates four Special Education (SPED) Schools (APSN Chaoyang School, APSN Katong School, APSN Tanglin School and APSN Delta Senior School) for students aged 7 to 21, an APSN Student Care Centre for children aged 7 to 18 and an APSN Centre for Adults for persons aged 16 and older, benefiting over 1,200 beneficiaries each year.

Product Description:
The Mixed Reality Living Room re-creates a typical HDB living/dining room and kitchenette (real environment), and co-locating it with an ICT-enhanced, immersive and interactive multi-media environment (virtual environment). Pupils would then be able to transit effortlessly between the real home environment and the desired virtual scenario the teacher wishes to have the pupils practise their skills in. In essence, it provides pupils with a safe and authentic environment to practise essential skills. It leverages on ICT to create virtual learning environments for pupils. Pupils undergo a very unique learning experience; while being virtual in nature, is still in part grounded in reality. Also the content created using the ‘Dreamscape Technology’ is easily customisable by the teachers to create whatever setting and scenario which the lesson required. Students are rostered to visit MR Room once a week for an hour each time.
